Christmas Light celebrations for 2015 in Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Essex

Buckden

Sunday November 29, 2015

2-5pm on the High Street

Festive attractions will include a Christmas market, and a raffle at Buckden’s lights switch-on event. Visitors can meet Santa in his grotto, before warming up with a glass of mulled wine in the nearby pubs and hotels. The lights will be switched on by one of the village’s unsung heroes, as voted for by residents.

Cambridge

Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15, 2015

On Saturday 14th, from 2pm, Peppa Pig will make an appearance at The Grafton alongside Heart FM as part of this year’s Christmas lights festivities.

On Sunday 15th, entertainment at the Market Square will begin from midday, which will include choirs, dance troupes, a hula hoop demonstration and a sepecial performance from the Corn Exchange. Heart FM will welcome guests to turn on the lights. This year X Factor contestants and local girl band PYT will do the honours.

There will be a host of entertainment between midday and 4pm on both days.

The Harpenden Christmas Carnival. The event is held in conjunction with the monthly Farmer’s Market. Acts on stage from 12 noon. Procession runs along the High Street at 3pm, and the lights are switched on at 5pm. A Santa’s Grotto will be open all day at Thompsons Close.

Hatfield

Saturday November 21, 2015

Paddington will appear at Hatfield’s Christmas lights event. There will be fun fair rides, street entertainers and the chance to meet Father Christmas. The fun, in Hatfield town centre, starts at 1pm and the lights will be switched on around 5pm.

Hertford Christmas Gala

Held at Hertford Town Centre. Lights are switched on around 6.30pm.

Taking place at Market Square, Huntingdon Community Radio FM will be linking the various activities and introducing local acts. There will be free face painting and balloon modelling plus an appearance Father Christmas! The event takes place from 1pm-5pm.

Christmas market, fun day and festive lights switch-on. The market will run from 10am-5pm and include stalls selling a range of products. The lights will be switched on by Father Christmas and the Mayor at 4.15pm.

St Albans

The Christmas lights switch-on is the culmination of an afternoon of entertainment starting at 12 noon. Local groups and acts, including The Polka Dot Dolls and Excel Performing Arts, will be performing live on the stage throughout the afternoon. There will also be a small market with traders selling festive and seasonal goods and a food arena with local restaurants and professional caterers providing festive feasts. Families can also visit Father Christmas at Santa’s Grotto. He will be supported by members of the Rotary Club of St Albans Verulamium.
