‘Burning sensation’ after man has ‘unknown liquid’ thrown on him in Saffron Walden

A man escaped serious injury after having a liquid thrown over him in Saffron Walden this morning (Wednesday).

Police were called to Long Horse Croft at about 10.50am, following reports that a man had an unknown substance thrown on his back.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “The victim, a man in 20s, was approached by two men. One the men then threw an unknown liquid from a plastic bottle.

“The victim suffered a burning sensation and reddening to the skin but was not seriously injured.”

The spokesman said that no arrests had been made but that investigations were ongoing.

He added: “We believe this is an isolated incident.”

Essex Fire and Rescue Service and the East of England Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
