Officers investigating the theft of a cash machine from a bank in Saffron Walden have released a CCTV image of someone they want to speak to.

It was reported five people using a JCB digger pulled the cash machine free from the Halifax in King Street at around 1.45am on Thursday, September 13, before it was put into a white van.

Police also received reports two other vehicles – a silver car and a white car – were with the van when it left the scene.

Acting Detective Chief Superintendent Stuart Hooper, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: “It’s really important we can identify the person pictured and speak to them.

“I realise you cannot see their face but if you recognise the clothing or the mask, or know where it can be purchased, we need to hear from you.”

If you have any information please call officers on 101 quoting incident 82 of September 13 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
