HUNDREDS of families and volunteers joined together on Saturday to take part in the Miles for Macmillan ‘Big Beautiful Walks’.
The event, held in partnership with Boots UK, consisted of three or eight miles around Hatfield Forest. The money raised will go towards helping to support the two million people living with and beyond cancer in the UK.
Oonagh Turnbull, head of community and giving at Boots UK, said: “Boots UK and Macmillan Cancer Support are working together to ensure everyone affected by cancer, wherever they are in the UK, has access to the best cancer information and support in their local community and we know raising funds is a vital way to support this.
“We are delighted at the fantastic turn out at Hatfield Forest, and the money raised will be invaluable to helping to continue to fantastic work done by Macmillan.”
Lynda Thomas, director of fundraising at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “It was fantastic to see so many friends and families spending time together and taking part in one of our Big Beautiful walks, having fun and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Hatfield Forest, while raising money for Macmillan.
“Cancer is often the toughest fight many people will face. By taking part in the walks and fundraising, we will together help to make sure no one has to face cancer alone.”
