Fashion show with a twist documents village’s 200-year history

MODELS showcased a village’s two hundred year history when they took to the cat walk for a parade billed as “a fashion show with a difference”.

Back by popular demand following a successful show in February, Ashdon’s Frocks and Frillies event once again treated a large audience in the village hall to an entertaining catalogue of fashion through the ages.

More than 60 costumes were worn by the models, beginning with nine white muslin dresses from the time of Jane Austin and finishing with a 1960’s mini skirt.

Historical village details and anecdotal stories accompanied the fashion parade - all mixed with a large pinch of humour.

The event was organised by the village museum and Women’s Institute, the latter providing the models for the frocks, while teenagers also joined the cast for what was described by museum creator Glenn Miller as a “memorable evening”.
