Fire crews called to crash in Wimbish

Fire crews were called to reports of a man trapped in his car after a crash in Wimbish yesterday.

Crews were called to the crash on Mill Road involving one car which had left the road.

The collision happened around 2.30pm and on arrival firefighters reported that one male was trapped in the car and worked to release him by 4.20pm.

The casualty was left in the care of the ambulance service.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “An ambulance, two Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles and an ambulance officer were called to a road traffic collision at Mill Road, Wimbish shortly after 2.30pm on Sunday.

“A man was transported to Addenbrookes Hospital.”

Fire crews from Saffron Walden and Thaxted attended.
