Four people were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences at a Chinese restaurant in Saffron Walden last month and one man has since been removed from the UK.

Two women, aged 24 and 48, and two men, aged 51 and 28, who are all Chinese nationals were arrested at China China restaurant in East Street on September 29.

They were transferred to the immigration service.

A spokesman for the Home Office said: “Following an Essex Police-led operation at China China, East Street, Saffron Walden, four Chinese nationals were referred to immigration enforcement.

“These included a man, aged 52, and a woman, aged 48, who had both entered the UK illegally as well as a man, aged 28, who had overstayed his visa. The 52-year-old has since been removed from the UK and the other two people are detained pending removal from the country.

“A second woman, aged 24, who had entered the UK illegally was bailed and ordered to report regularly to the Home Office.”
