Friends’ School GCSE students and staff are basking in the glory of a “superb” set of GCSE results this year.

The Saffron Walden school had a 100 per cent pass rate A*-G, with 32 per cent of grades at A* or A.

There was a “significant” improvement in the percentage of A*-C grades, up to 91.3 per cent, while the 89.1 per cent of students had A*-C grades including maths and English.

High achievers were Frances White and Amy Partridge, who gained 12 A*s and seven As between them.

Frances said: “I’m incredibly happy, and have surprised myself with my results, although I did work hard throughout the year.

“The school has been so supportive, it’s such a warm environment. My teachers always believed I’d do well.”

Amy said: “I’m so happy with my grades, it was a lot of work and effort but this school is a great place to be.”

Headteacher Anna Chaudhri said: “This is a superb achievement for the students and reflects their talent and hard work. It is also a tribute to the quality of the teaching they have received. The school is truly delighted.”
