Have your say about new M11 junction 7a

13:21 10 January 2014

Residents, road users and businesses are being urged to voice their opinions on the proposed new M11 junction 7a before the exhibition ends later this month.

Visitors to the exhibitions can learn more about the proposed new junction and have their say via comment cards at the Harlow Civic Centre and Epping Library, until January 31.

Staff will be on hand to provide further details and answer any questions at exhibitions at the Sheering Village Hall that is taking place today (January 10, from 3pm to 8pm) and at the Harlow Civic Centre on Wednesday, January 15 (from 2pm to 8pm).

Display boards will show how the new junction joins into the existing road network within Harlow and the improvements needed to cater for the scheme and future growth of the town.

The scheme is being promoted by Essex Highways, a strategic partnership between Essex County Council and Ringway Jacobs.

County councillor Rodney L Bass, cabinet member for Highways & Transportation, said: “The current M11 junction 7 is at capacity, meaning it regularly suffers congestion and is a restriction on the future growth and development of Harlow.

“The proposed new junction looks to address this situation and also allows for the future growth and regeneration of Harlow, which could not happen without major road improvements.

“As with any travel improvement, it is important that people’s views and opinions are taken into consideration and I encourage as many people as possible to attend the exhibitions and have their say.”

Those not able to attend the exhibitions can find out more via the website: essex.gov.uk/junction7a, where exhibition materials can viewed.

The public exhibitions began last month and will run until January 31.

  • what is needed is a new junction on the M11 at Saffron Walden Stumps Cross. A lot of traffic could be taken off local roads if you could join there to go to Cambridge or come off from Cambridge. Also when there is an accident this would be an option to get the traffic moving. It is madness that if you miss the Duxford turning you have to go to Stortford and then double back.
