Helicopter search leads to four men being arrested after burning motorcycle is discovered in Saffron Walden

Police have arrested four men on suspicion of arson and theft of a motor vehicle following a helicopter hunt late last night.

The police helicopter was deployed to assist ground units with the search for four suspects after a motorcycle was discovered on fire at Catons Lane farm shortly after 10pm.

A 23-year-old man from Saffron Walden, a 21-year-old man from Elsenham and two 24-year-old men from Bishop’s Stortford were arrested at around 11pm last night (Sunday) and taken into police custody.

Firefighters were called at about 10.24pm to put out the burning motorcycle near Saffron Walden Town Football Club, off Catons Lane.

One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire by 10.42pm.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Saffron Walden police station 101.
