Masked burglars stole goods worth an estimated £25,000 in a smash and grab raid at the Jacks store in Saffron Walden.

The break-in happened at around 6am on Sunday, November 19.

Four or five men wearing balaclavas smashed their way in through the doors of the High Street shop before loading the stolen items into a Ford Transit van.

Essex Police is investigating the incident.

Jude Cox, store owner, said: “It was all over and done with very quickly. I think they knew what they were doing.

“We’ve had reports of someone pulling up early on Friday morning and appearing to scout out the store, but we can’t be sure. We are a shop after all.

“High-end country clothing was taken – Barbour, Aigle, Schoffel and Musto. It’s all fairly recognisable stuff, but I imagine it is long gone.

“They just grabbed armfuls of stuff.

“The alarm was going off, but at that time on a Sunday there’s not many people about.

“If anyone has any information, or happens to see anything on eBay or Gumtree that looks like an incredible amount of brand-new stock being sold, then please alert Essex Police.”

  • Was the burglary at Jacks caught on the town's CCTV?
