Crowds descended on Newport last weekend to celebrate the return of its summer fete.

The event, on August 12, saw visitors – and some of their furry friends – browse stalls, take a look at classic cars, and try their hand at some traditional games.

There was also rapturous applause for Danni Nicholls, who was part of the show’s live entertainment section, once she finished her set.

Youngsters also got in on the action with plenty of face painting, comic performances and, of course, a trip to the ice cream stand.

There was even a crockery smash stall for visitors to have a go at, with plates, cups, and saucers stacked high against a towering bookcase.

The fete made its grand return following a hiatus last year.

The 2017 event made sure to build on the success of previous years though, which have seen live bands, bouncy castles and pony rides.
