THE future of a popular local pub in Wendens Ambo has been thrown into doubt after it was put for sale.

The Fighting Cocks, in London Road has been put on the market for £395,000 by owners Punch Taverns.

Estate agents Fleurets East Anglia are handling the sale of the pub and describe it as being situated in a "prosperous and highly desirable residential area, with rail links to Cambridge and London Liverpool Street, as well as easy access to the M11"

Bob Whittle, from the Sudbury-based estate agents, said: "The Fighting Cocks represents a freehold opportunity with the potential for redevelopment, subject to the necessary consents.

"The property is situated in an affluent and highly desirable area, offering fabulous road and rail links, so its availability will appeal to those in and outside of the trade.
