Protesters descended on Uttlesford District Council’s offices today to show their opposition to two controversial planning applications.

A pre-inquiry meeting was being held at the council's offices by the Planning Inspectorate. The full inquiry is expected to be heard on September 23. Residents from the Dunmow area waved placards outside the council’s base, on London Road, ahead of a pre-inquiry meeting by the Planning Inspectorate.

Developers for two schemes – a 600-700 home development in Little Easton, near Dunmow, and 800 home proposal in Elsenham – have appealed separate decisions by Uttlesford’s planning committee to reject the applications.

Both appeals will be heard on September 23. The Planning Inspectorate arranged to hold the pre-inquiry meeting this morning.
