A section of the West Anglia main line has re-opened following an earlier incident where a person was hit by a train.

Rail operator Greater Anglia said trains from London Liverpool Street to Hertford East, Stansted Airport and Cambridge and between Stratford and Bishop’s Stortford were still affected.

A person was hit by a train between Broxbourne and Cheshunt shortly after 1pm today (Thursday). All trains were stopped whilst the emergency services attended to the incident. The line was re-opened from 2.30pm.

In a statement, the company said: “Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or revised at short notice. Disruption is expected to continue about 4pm, when most services are expected to be running normally.

“First Capital Connect and Transport for London services are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice. Arrangements have been made for Abellio Greater Anglia rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.

“We thank you for your patience and understanding whilst the train service is recovered.”
