Police are appealing for information after another ram raid in Saffron Walden overnight.

A cash machine was stolen from Halifax, in King Street, at about 1.45am today (Thursday).

The raid follows similar attacks at Aldi and the Lord Butler Leisure Centre, in Saffron Walden, in August, and at the Co-op, in Stansted, last week.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We believe up to five suspects used a JCB digger to pull the machine free before it was loaded into a white van.

“We have also received reports that two other vehicles, a silver and white car, were with the van as it left the scene. We searched the area with assistance from the police helicopter but were unable to find the vehicles described.
