Saffron Walden: Burglary victims invited to viewing day for recovered stolen property

Victims of recent burglaries in north Essex are invited to attend a viewing day for recovered stolen property.
It will take place on Saturday, April 5 at Saffron Walden Police Station in East Street between 11am and 4pm.
A similar event was held last month which led to around 100 items, connected to 10 burglaries, being identified by their owners.
An estimated 300 items recovered by police following burglaries in the area were put on show at the last event. The items were all believed to have been taken during breaks-ins across the Uttlesford district throughout last December.
They had been recovered when police in Kent questioned two men waiting to catch a cross-Channel ferry at Dover on December 29.
Most of the recovered property was jewellery but many electrical items including hair straighteners, video cameras, USB sticks, hard drives, iPods, laptops, cameras and mobile phones were also recovered.
Kent police have charged the men with a number of burglary offences.
The victims of 28 burglaries were invited to view the items in the hope of identifying them. The burglaries happened in Saffron Walden, Clavering, Littlebury and Stansted area, including several which were carried out on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Investigating officer, DS Becky Young, said: “We were very pleased with the amount of property that we will be able to reunite with its rightful owners.
“This further event is being held to see if we can help victims identify their stolen items. This time we are opening up the viewing day to anyone in the area who may have suffered a burglary between November and December last year.
“With so many items to return to their rightful owners the property viewing days are the quickest way for people who have been the victim of recent burglaries to try and identify their missing items.”
