A double murderer from Essex who killed his mother and her friend has been found dead in his prison cell.

Brett Rogers, 25, was imprisoned for a minimum of 32 years last May after being found guilty by a jury of killing his mum, Gillian Phillips, 54, and her friend David Oakes, 60, in 2015.

Mrs Phillips died from multiple stab wounds and Mr Oakley suffered a head injury and several stab wounds.

Rogers, previously of Stansted Mountfitchet, was discovered in his cell at HMP Long Lartin in Evesham, Worcestershire, on Wednesday last week.

A post mortem found that he died from compression to the neck.

Gary Lindley, 41, and Billy White, 24, have been charged with his murder.

They have been remanded in custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday.
