STUDENTS from Linton Village College (LVC) showed they have a head for science by finishing runners-up in a long-running challenge.

The Swavesey Science Challenge, which took place at Swavesey Village College last week, has been running for 17 years, and featured pupils from 19 local schools.

Teams of three boys and three girls competed to tackle two practical science tasks and a quiz, each designed to test the students’ teamwork and problem-solving skills as well as their scientific knowledge.

The LVC team of Heather Charlesworth and Sam Merryweather (year seven), Robert Mitchell and Gemma McGuire (year eight) and Kieran Glasssmith and Anya Heath (year nine) scored an impressive 46 points out of 60 to finish in second place, just behind Sawston Village College.

LVC science teacher, Dr Danielle Redhead, said: “The students were a credit to the college and worked really well as a team, despite having only met each other on the morning of the challenge.”
