May I please use you letters page to thank the people of Saffron Walden and all those who use the market for their very generous support of the fund for fireworks I organised last week to reimburse the Round Table for their losses when their November fireworks celebration was washed out.

I am enormously pleased to let all those who generously gave what they could spare, that the town gave a total sum of £302.46 which the Mayor has agreed to present to the Round Table on behalf of Saffron Walden.

It is wonderful to know that even in these very difficult times, Saffron Walden still can be relied on to rise to the occasion and if we all pull together we can overcome anything!

Saffron Walden still has the X factor.
