Disabled drivers will have the chance to pilot a choice of more than 40 different specially-adapted cars around the world-famous Silverstone race track next month.

As part of the Mobility Roadshow, incorporating Get Going Live, people with restricted mobility can take the wheel of vehicles from the likes of BMW, Ford, Suzuki, Nissan and Vauxhall. They can also explore the widest range of adapted driving controls to be found anywhere, spanning push-pull, floor-mounted and trigger-type assemblies.

Admission, parking and all activities at the show are free, although booking is recommended for test drives, say the oganisers.

The Get Going Live element of the show is aimed at younger drivers with disabilities that keep them from driving non-adapted cars. Youngsters and novice drivers can test-drive suitably modified cars, the latest mobility scooters, rehabilitation aids, ramps and hoists.

The event will be opened on May 26 at 10am by special guest Lamin Manneh, inspirational war veteran, Invictus athlete and co-star of the BBC’s DIY SOS Homes for Veterans special.

Ann Frye, chair of Mobility Choice, said: “We are delighted to be holding the Mobility Roadshow at Silverstone for the first time.

“In response to visitor feedback, we have chosen this magnificent venue with space to expand the range and choice of mobility products from around the world as well as giving visitors the opportunity to drive on the famous race circuit.”
