Saffron Walden’s Jack Peasgood guided visually impaired athlete Dave Ellis to gold atthe ETU European Paratriathlon Championships in Estonia.

The race started with an 850m downstream swim in the Emajõgi river, before a bike course of four technical 5k laps took the athletes around the city of Tartu, with a climb in Tähtvere Park.

The run consisted of three laps of 1.66km on pavement and park paths and Peasgood led Ellis to victory in the PTV1 category in a time of 1:03.35.

Jack’s fiancée Alison Patrick and her guide Hannah Drewett also had an excellent race and won gold medals, with Alison saying: “I’m super happy to be European champion again. I’ve been working with a new guide, so proud of her for putting together all her learning.”

GB won five gold and four silvers at the event, while George Peasgood finalised his plans for the World Paracyling Road Championships in Italy this weekend.
