STEFF Godfrey was amongst the medals as WaldenTri finished the cross country winter series in impressive style.
WaldenTri Ladies over-35 team that took the trophy for 3rd place for the series, from left, Steff Godfrey, Hazel Turton and Claire Denyer.
Godfrey achieved first place in her age group, despite never having run cross country before the season’s start.
It was one of many superb performances by the team at Watford in the final race of the five-event eries.
Over 300 runners from 18 clubs in the league lined-up on a cold, frosty Sunday morning. The course was just under 10k, mostly through woodlands, with two very hilly laps on a soft and muddy surface.
Craig Dyce was once again in fine form coming first home for the club in an excellent 7th overall, and 2nd in his age group in 36mins 38secs.
Pete Thompson was next, 24th overall and 2nd in his age group, in 39:10. He was just 8 seconds behind the age group winner.
Geoff Jones was the 3rd man home, 47th overall and 5th in his age group - and his results over the five races have shown a remarkable series of improvements as he gained 57 places from first race to last
Once again the WaldenTRI ladies were in great form with four within the first 14 ladies home. Fiona Halls was 7th overall, 3rd in her age group in 43:35.
Next home was Louise Rolfe in 9th place in 43:54. The 13th place was taken by the ever-improving Jess Hudson in 45:37, and in 14th place and 1st in her age group was Godfrey in 46:10.
These results gave the WaldenTRI ladies over-35 team 1st place for the second race in a row, and gave them an end of series placing of 3rd out of the 18 teams.
