Four members of the club were crowned British Riding Clubs’ National Champions last weekend after winning the final of the Riding Test competition.

Sophie Haylock on Reason Why, Vicky Rutherford on Frank, Lisa Spence on Fidget and Claire Engelmann on Angus all put in very strong performances to clinch the title by just one point.

The competition is judged on the rider’s ability and the team won through to the championships from the area round in July.

Two of the team, Sophie and Lisa, were also on the club’s other title winning team when the club took the Senior Novice Eventer Trial National Championship in June.

The club had a number of team competing in the weekend’s championships and came home with a number of individual placings along with team placings of 6th in Senior Open Dressage, 9th in Senior Pairs, 10th in Senior Novice Dressage and 9th in Junior Style Jumping.

A spokesman said: “It has been a number of years since the club has been so successful at national level.
