And, if successful, they will be at home to either Bourn or Saint Neots Saints in the second round.

In the Thurlow Nunn League Cup (Red Insure Cup) the Bloods – who will be led by a new management team of club stalwart Stuart Wardley as manager and Jason Maher assistant manager/first team coach – received a bye in the preliminary round, and have a home draw against Ely City in the first round, and an opportunity to avenge the 3-2 defeat against Ely at Catons Lane at the same stage last season. The game will be played on October 21.

Walden also received a preliminary round bye and have a home draw against Needham Market Reserves in the first round of the Thurlow Nunn First Division Cup, and will hope to go better than a semi-final place last season.

The FA Cup and FA Vase draws are made in July, and the Essex Senior Cup draw in August.

• Meanwhile, while Walden’s league fixtures have yet to be confirmed, the team’s series of pre-season friendlies have been announced.

The Bloods are away at Biggleswade on July 12; at home to Chelmsford City on July 17 in what will be a ‘pay what you want’ game for supporters; away at Romford on July 19; home against Heybridge on July 22; away to White Notley on July 26; and at home to Bacton on August 2.
