JASON Harvey will keep his spot in the Saffron Walden goal despite Paul Wood’s return from injury, Colin Wallington has exclusively told the Reporter.

Wood, the number one goalkeeper at the start of the season, was on the bench for Saturday’s draw against Whitton having spent two months on the sideline after a horror injury against Long Melford on November 24.

The 32-year-old had to have eight stitches to his lip with another five inside his mouth after colliding with Melford skipper Michael Owen.

In his absence Harvey has been brilliant, keeping four clean sheets in seven games, leaving Wallington with no choice but to give him the nod ahead of Wood.

“Jason has done really well for us so we’ll keep him in goal until I feel Paul gives us a better chance to win,” he said.

“Obviously Woody is disappointed because he wants to play for us but he understands the situation and his attitude has been fantastic.
