Abington United 3 Great Chesterford 4

Great Chesterford made it 10 games unbeaten with another hard-fought victory at Abington in NMC 2A.

Josh Saggers’ strike put the visitors into a deserved lead but Abington hit back to score two.

Just before half time a Saggers corner made its way into James Butcher’s path who struck home to pull Chesterford level.

They were behind again in the second half. But, with just 15 minutes remaining, Steve Leys strike twice to give Chesterford the win and keep his team at the top of the table.

Saffron Rangers 6 Thaxted Rangers 0

Rangers moved into third place in NMC 2A with a great all-round team performance against rivals Thaxted Rangers.

They created numerous chances in the first half and led 3-0 at the break, and added three more in the second half.

Phil Dillon helped himself to four goals, with Meichen and youngster Jonty Cole also getting on the scoresheet.

Rangers travel to unbeaten Haverhill Borough Reserves on Saturday.

Sawston Rovers Res 5 Saffron Rangers Res 1

Rangers came away wondering how they manged to lose by such a big margin.

They started well, passing the ball around the home side and creating some excellent chances. Yet they trailed 3-1 at half-time with only Jamie Hansen’s goal as consolation.

After the break Rangers struggled to get a foothold and, as they pushed forward, Sawston grabbed two more in the final 15 minutes.

Litlington Athletic 3 Saffron Crocus 1

Crocus suffered a first defeat in five matches at top-of-the-table Litlington.

Defensive errors proved costly for the visitors as they conceded two soft goals. They saw more of the game after the break but Athletic added a third before Stuart Sheperd scrambled a consolation.

Crocus travel to second place Melbourn on Saturday.
