Great Chesterford 4 Gransden 2

Great Chesterford continued the year where the left 2013 with another win and cementing their place at the top of the league.

Steve Leys (2) and Andy Smith ewre on the scoresheet as Chesterford led 3-1 at the break.

Gransden scored to reduce the defecit to one, but Peter Flack notched his first for the club to seal the win.

Chesterford are now nine points clear. Their next game is away at NMC 1A side Fulbourn Sports Cambs Junior Challenge Cup.

Saffron Rangers 3 Sawston United 1

Rangers had to come from a goal down to claim a well deserved three points.

It took 20 minutes for the home side to get into it - by which time they were one down - but took until just before the interval to draw level, Phil Beighton chasing down a ball through the middle to poke home passed the keeper.

Elliot Meichen put Rangers in front on 55 minutes with a 20-yard vollet before Beighton coolly finished to put the game to bed.

Saffron Crocus 8 Sawston Rovers Reserves 0

Crocus cruised into the last 16 of the Cambs Lower Junior Cup with a ruthless display against lower league opposition, having now scored 21 in the last four home games without reply.

Ross Millard, Scott Cummings and Ben Head scored in the first half, with further goals coming from Millard, Adam Daniels, Giuseppe Jafari, Cummings and Stephen Maycock.

Crocus face a trip to Alconbury in another cup competition in their next fixture.

Saffron Dynamos 3 Thurlow Royal Exchange Res 3

Dynamos lost two points as visitors Thurlow grabbed a 90th minute penalty to equalise.

The hosts led 2-0 at half time thanks to goals from Sam Mitchell and Ryan Barry from the penalty spot.

Thurlow’s Nathan Staples hit two quick goals early in the second half before substitute restored the Dynamos lead.

Thurlow pushed for the equaliser and got it late on, Staples completing his hat-trick from the spot after being brought down by home keeper Samir Sadaoui.
