Saffron Crocus 0 Litlington Athletic 2
A first defeat in nine matches for Crocus despite a solid team performance.
After a goalless first 45 minutes, the game swung in Athletic’s favour when Joe Hanley was sent off after his tackled denied a goal-scoring opportunity. The visitors converted the spot-kick, then added a second 10 minutes later.
Sawston Untied A 0 Saffron Rangers Res 7
Saffron Rangers Reserves ran riot as they stuck seven past Sawston.
Nathan Lightning got the ball rolling with a 10th minute penalty. Further strikes by Phil Dillion and Ash King saw Rangers go in to the interval three to the good.
King went on to score two more after the break as he completed his hat-trick. Dillon added a the fifth and Andy White the seventh.
Saffron Rangers Reserves are at home to Whittlesford on Saturday, 3pm kick off.
Hatfield Heath 1 Abacus Athletic 5
Abacus moved a step closer to the Terry Reed North West Essex Division One title with a comfortable win over Hatfield Heath.
Charlie Norris’s header put Abacus 1-0 up with the only goal of the first half.
Straight from the second half kick off, Sean Stock headed home a Norris cross following a 14-pass move.
Norris scored his second with a left footed finish across the keeper before Steve Leys headed home the fourth. Subsitute Rob O’Brien’s ferocious strike completed another impressive Abacus move.
Hatfield Heath didn’t give up and grabbed a late consolation with their only shot on target.
Abacus’ next game is away to second placed White Roding.
