COLIN Wallington has called on his strikers to up their game in the face of mounting injuries.
Peter Davies is the Bloods latest casualty - he was taken to hospital after being on the receiving end of a reckless challenge against Ipswich Wanderers which left him needing five stitches – meaning Wallington has just two healthy strikers in the squad.
With Davies facing at least three weeks on the sideline, Wallington has urged Tom Richardson and Nathan Cox to pick up the slack.
“Pete’s injury is a big loss because he was good for us at the start of the season, then he lost his confidence a bit, but recently he has been playing well up front and scoring goals for us,” he told the Reporter.
“He is very capable of scoring goals, that’s why we brought him in – we were looking to cash in on that but now that’s been put back.
“We need Nathan Cox and Tom Richardson to step up to the mark and start scoring goals; otherwise I’ll have to start looking for another striker.”
It is not all bad news for Bloods’ fans. Dan Cann, who signed from Long Melford in September, is expecting to return to training in the New Year after a long battle with injury and work commitments.
