WALDEN Wanderers celebrated their recent win at Essex FA’s ‘Winner’s Weekend’ by performing a televised rendition of the Harlem Shake after their league match on Sunday.
The league match, against Isleham, was televised by Action Game Replay as a reward for winning the ‘Winner’s Weekend,’ and the squad took full advantage to perform in front of the cameras- manager Barry Benton was even convinced to take part.
Barry said: “I think our ‘Soccer Shake’ will be a memorable one but I’m already asking myself ‘did I really do that?’”
“I think that AGR were happy with the footage they shot - there were some great interviews and the somewhat ‘inclement’ weather supported the problems that they are keen to highlight faced by grassroots clubs.”
Wanderers won the earlier game 2-1 with first-half goals from Charlie Passfield and Tom Burke.
Isleham scored from a counter-attack with two minutes remaining, but Walden held on to claim three points.
