Saffron Walden Golf Club scratch team won their latest pre-season friendly at Bourn last week.

In challenging, bouncy conditions under foot and early season greens, the course proved difficult to play.

Olly Tuck and Mark Reeve went out first against Sutherland and Edwards. In a tight game the Walden pairing ground out a 1-up victory which went right up to the final hole.

In the next game Cam Brown played with Callum Brookes against the current Bourn club champion, Stubbs and Dempsey. Again Brookes showed his rapid development and with Brown drew the match having been 1-up going into the 18th hole.

Ryan Hunt and Graham Goodman lost to the Bourn pairing 1-down.

Steve Trench and Ross Fraser went out last, but one of the Bourn team members failed to make the tee off time and so the Walden pairing won by default.

The result was a 2.5-1.5 win for Walden.
