A PROMISING teenager has been called up to represent the Cambridgeshire Area Golf Union A team.
Cameron Brown, from Saffron Walden. will play for the team in its forthcoming county fixture against Norfolk in Sheringham on Saturday.
The 18-year-old joins Saffron Walden Golf Club’s (SWGC) other star golfer, Tom Duggan, to represent CAGU A this year.
Brown has had an excellent year so far. In the recent county open at Ramsey he shot a 66 - the lowest amateur score of the day - which gave him third amateur overall in a top class field.
He also successfully defended his club championship and finished eighth in the commemeration jug, a competition for national club champions.
In representative county games for the B team he has convincingly won all his singles matches and has led the CAGU U18 team as captain.
He also won the CAGU junior county championship, and will represent CAGU in the midland junior county champions event and at the end of the season the EGU county junior champion of champions at Woodhall Spa.
A spokesman for SWGC said: “To have two golfers from Walden representing the A-team in one year has not happened for many years and is a credit to the competitive nature of the golf club.”
