GOSFIELD Lake Golf Club hosted more than 20 teams in the Society Invitation Day last Friday.
The format was a combined stableford with all four players counting.
Golf clubs, business comapnies, sports clubs, villages and pubs took part, nominating four players to represent them.
Over 80 players took part from the Essex and Suffolk in ideal golfing weather and on a course in excellent condition.
At the end of the day the winning teams comfortably took the prizes with several points advantage and no countbacks necessary.
The winning team - Delphi Hackers - consisting of Dave Bowes, Justin Rogers, Ben Wilkinson and Tony Marshall won by four stableford points from Quendon & Rickling, represented by Brandon Chapman, Oz Osbourn, Barry Hutchin and Alan Price.
In third place, a further three points adrift, were Lion Toads made up of Dave Foster, Hugh Madle, Robin Nicholson and Keith Pearcy.
Five nearest the pin prizes on each of the par threes were closely contested. Hole 2 – Chris Richards of Hullbridge GS; hole 5 – Martin Cade of London & Essex 1; hole 8 – Andy Bouttell of Essex Suffolk Mix; hole 15 – Steve Norton of Eastcourt A’; and hole 17 – Allan Withey of London & Essex 3.
