Mavericks and England star Sasha Corbin put 30 juniors from SWANS Netball Club through their paces at a training session at Lord Butler Leisure & Fitness Centre.

Caitlin Hellen, 13, chose to use her Jack Petchey award for commitment to the club and sport to invite Corbin, who has 66 caps, to come and train the girls and talk about her inspirational netball journey.

The girls worked hard throughout the two-hour session, training in ball skills, speed and movement, and attacking play.

And at a lively Q&A session, Corbin talked about overcoming two bad injuries and her determination to work hard to get into the England suad for next year’s World Cup.

Hellen is one of six junior members to have achieved places at Cambridgeshire County Netball Academy for nextseason.

SWANs have more than 125 junior members aged eight to 16, three senior teams and run Walking Netball and Back To Netball sessions for adults at Saffron Walden County High School, Joyce Frankland, Lord Butler and Forest Hall School.
