Tom Blomqvist was awarded the Spencer Charrington Trophy as the best British Formula 3 driver this year, at the BRDC Awards in London.

The 21-year-old from Saffron Walden also came second behind Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton for the prestigious BRDC Gold Star award.

Blomqvist had a stand-out 2014 season, finishing second in the European F3 Championship, ahead of 2015 Toro Rosso driver Max Verstappen. Esteban Ocon won the title.

Blomqvist added his name to the long list of renowned winners of the trophy, including Mike Conway, who this season was the only driver to win a race in both IndyCar and the World Endurance Championship, and F1 driver Max Chilton.

News of where he will be racing next year will be announced soon.
