Alex Benn surges through the Diss defence for Saffron Walden under-15s

Saffron Walden under-15s ran out 37-17 winners over Diss in their friendly fixture.

After two hard weeks of training, the visitors took the lead in the first minute as Oisin Murphy showed great footwork to beat three players and touch down in the corner.

Fraser Murray, Murphy and Luke Rees followed up with further tries, before Diss replied, to put Walden 20-5 up at the break.

But the home side hit back after the restart to close the gap to just three points, after Walden made a string of changes.

Scrum-half Finn Thomas sparked Walden back into life, with Murphy completing his hat-trick and Murray and Kaelen Clapham, back from Singapore, also going over for tries.

Harry Vincent-West was named man of the match for Walden on his return from injury, after a fine display at full-back, and the team will be looking to maintain their form when they embark on a run of cup fixtures during November.
