Saffron Walden under-14s celebrate their success at the Cambridgeshire 10s

Archant

Saffron Walden under-14s came out on top at the annual Cambridgeshire 10s after some fine displays.

They beat Newmarket (9-0), Shelford (6-1) and Cambridge B (6-1) in their pool to reach the final.

And an impressive 5-1 win over Cambridge A saw them crowned as winners in a hugely impressive start to the season, with pace and skill in attack matched by resolute defence.

The under-13s had one of their best days with some rounded performances and wins over teams they had not previously beaten.

And the under-15s won two and lost two of their matches, played back to back, with a squad of 20 playing their part in new positions with some good outcomes.

After county and regional success last season, and many players selected for higher levels of rugby, the club are looking for more of their young players to rise from the junior ranks and challenge for first-team spots. New players are welcomed.
