Saffron Walden Cricket Club Academy round up

U14

SWCC (133-2) beat Cambridge Granta U15 (125-3) by 8 runs

Saffron Walden U14 beat Cambridge Granta U15 by 8 runs in their first match in the CYCA U15s league.

Walden batted first. The opening pair of Will Banks and Max Haupt (24) put on 81. Banks went on to make 50 not out before retiring and Ronnie Ledwith scored 26 as Walden reached 133-2 in their 20 overs.

All of the Walden bowlers bowled well, keeping Granta just below the required run rate throughout. Chris Bogg and Ledwith took a wicket each as Granta were restricted to 125-3.

U9

SWCC (249) beat Harlow CC (241) by 8 runs

Henry Clare and Taegan Chapman’s 21 runs in the last 4 overs proved decisive for Walden, as did the wickets taken by man-of-the-match Taegan Chapman and Daniel Legg.

It was a fantastic team effort in a competitive match that was the team performance of the year so far.
