A total of 28 member teams and 12 from visiting clubs battled it out, with Royston’s K Cridland, M Hall, B Rouse and A Evans winning for the first time in over 20 years of competing.

They combined for 78 points in the fuor-ball betterball event to finish one ahead of R Brown, R Cussen, J Dale and D Sellings (Chesfield Downs) thanks to a decisive birdie by Evans on the par five sixth hole.

In the members competition, three scores from four players counted on each hole and the 118 points of Ollie Tuck, Daniel Chapman, David Reville and D Harris looked enough for victory.

But in the penultimate match, Richard Southall, Ryan Adair, Callum Brookes and Louis Martin all claimed birdies on the 18th and the nine-point haul saw them finish with 121 for first place.
