Saffron Walden Town had to settle for a share of the spoils at bottom club Wivenhoe in their Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League clash.

The Bloods had not played for 17 days, since their 2-0 defeat against Godmanchester, due to postponements caused by frozen pitches.

And they saw a free-kick well saved by Daniel Beeson, who pushed the ball over his crossbar as the first half ended goalless.

The home keeper produced another unorthodox stop in the second half to deny the visitors again. And Stuart Wardley’s men remained frustrated for the rest of the match as the scoreline stayed blank and the contest ended in a 0-0 draw.

Bloods host Haverhill Rovers on Boxing Day (12pm), with fans offered the chance to pay what they want.

Walden: O’Sullivan, Bell, Ledwith, Molloy, Fleming, Hoddy, Maybanks, Skeggs, Trendall, Portway, Lakin. Subs: Emsden, Gray, Murphy, Simon-Parsons, Fanthorpe.
