A sculpture depicting the late Amy Winehouse has been selected to appear alongside some of Britain’s leading figurative artists.

The piece was created Elizabeth Hicks, an artist from Cornish Hall End, north of Thaxted. It beat out a record number of entries – over 1,300 works – to be chosen for display at the Mall Galleries near Trafalgar Square.

The Royal Society of British Artists annual exhibition ran from March 5-15.

Elizabeth had two works accepted, one of which was a bronze resin sculpture depicting the Grammy award-winning singer.

The Royal Society of British Artists hold an open submission exhibition in central London each year. Founded in 1823, the Royal Society of British Artists was established to help artists display their work in Central London.
