Based on real-life anecdotes and starring genuine refugees, Leave to Remain explores the world of three teenage asylum-seekers who have been forced to leave their homelands and learn to live in yet another hostile country – the UK.

Following the screening, Goodison and Mwanza will answer questions from the audience, providing an opportunity to discuss the issues raised by the film

The film was born out of a three-year project to give young asylum seekers the chance to learn film-making skills and is based on real stories told by youngsters during the development of the project.

Featuring a soundtrack from the hottest band of the year, Mercury Music Prize and Novello Award-winners Alt-J, the film is a provocative coming of age drama, brought to life by powerful performances from an ensemble cast of emerging talent, young refugees and acclaimed actor, Toby Jones (Infamous, Hitchcock, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire).

Leave to Remain will be shown at Saffron Screen on Monday, July 14 at 8pm and will be followed by a Q&A. Tickets are available from saffronscreen.com, Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre and the box office.
