There’s plenty to keep children entertained at Saffron Screen this half term, including extra screenings during the week of popular films, craft and animation workshops and speaker events.
Animated films Wolf Children and Moon Man will be shown throughout the week and will be preceded by free drop-in drawing and mask-making workshops from 2pm. All ages and abilities are welcome for this hour of pre-film fun.
Then for older children and adults, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire may be a welcome distraction on Tuesday and Thursday night and the delightful Marius is a light French drama full of welcome sunshine!
And on Sunday, February 16, Saffron Screen will team up with the National Trust to look at how we can encourage local children to get outdoors and explore nature with a screening of documentary Project Wild Thing and discussion with a panel of experts. Ticketholders for the event will also be given a free car parking voucher for Hatfield Forest near Bishop’s Stortford – the ideal spot to start exploring the wonders of nature, especially in half-term week.
There will also be a one day animation workshop for 10-14 year olds with award-winning animator, Elizabeth Hobbs. The workshop has proved to be very popular and has already sold out but e-mail info@saffronscreen if you want to go on the waiting list.
Saffron Screen is planning more events of this type and audiences are encouraged to sign up to their weekly e-mail to hear about them.
Tickets are available from the cinema box office, Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre, or online at saffronscreen.com
