Hundreds of people are once again expected to turn out for Duxford’s annual Soap Box Derby this Sunday.
Last year’s charity event was such a success that organisers have decided to follow it up with not one but two races from the John Barleycorn pub.
The children’s race starts at 12noon and finishes back at the pub, while the adults’ race begins at 1pm and will have a finish line at the Plough, via the Wheatsheaf for refreshments halfway.
All money raised will go to Cancer Research UK.
It will be a weekend-long celebration in the village, as Friday night starts with Bazzas Vinyl Disco Mania at the Wheatsheaf. Morris Dancing will kick off the Saturday entertainment, at about 6pm, with The Cambridge Morris Men dancing at all three pubs through the village.
There will be live music Saturday night at the Barleycorn, including a raffle.
Sunday afternoon in the Plough will get started with presentations for the Soap Box Derby winners, losers and best fancy dress and will carry on with an auction.
Live music will follow all afternoon with a line up including a classical guitar duo, Dom Bonito and his Buskers and The Lost Marbles. Bill Johnson, landlord of the Plough, has put together a music quiz with the weekend concluding with a local folk group.
