ONE of the best blues pianists on the European circuit is set to hold a concert in Saffron Walden this weekend.
Daniel Smith Blues Band was in the town two years ago to support the Injured Soldiers’ Fund. Now he is returning to support the recently-launched Street Pastors project.
Smith can boogie, swing and slam out slow blues like an old master – “always crisp, note perfect and his adventurous approach always makes you sit up and listen” (Red Lick Magazine).
The concert, which is being held at the Baptist Church on the High Street, is on Saturday (March 16). Doors open 7.30pm and the performance starts 8pm. Tickets, £10, available from the baptist church office (01799 523031), Tourist Information Centre, or online at saffrontickets.com
Bring own drinks and snacks (organisers won’t be selling alcohol but are happy for people to bring their own).
The Street Pastors project is being led by the churches of Saffron Walden, in association with police, town and district councils, to engage with people on the streets. After recruitment and training, patrols will be on the streets from September. For details, visit streetpastors.co.uk
