SeriousKitchen presents The Whispering Road at High Barn

Friday, February 1, 2013
9.54 AM

A SWEDISH folk tale told through story, song and music and drawing on the rich heritage of Scandinavian myths and stories will be played out on the stage at High Barn.

SeriousKitchen presents The Whispering Road at the Great Bardfield venue on Sunday February 17.

The blends Nick Hennessey’s spellbinding storytelling with Vicki Swan and Jonny Dyer’s renowned musicianship and their collective wealth of experience of Nordic traditional folk culture.

It tells the story of hope in the darkness, a journey through the pine forests, strangers bound by a ring and of the one who could not love. Oh, and there are, of course, trolls in the story too!

The story is brought to life with an accompaniment of traditional Scandinavian music on the Swedish nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle), kohorn (cow horn), accordion, guitar and three-part close harmony singing.

Suitable for ages 8 and over

Tickets for the show, which starts at 6pm, are £7.50. To book call the box office 01371 811291 or visit high-barn.com
