Radwinter teenager Hollie Haines is putting on her third fund-raising concert next week.
There will be live music from a variety of performers, and it will be suitable for all ages. Hollie will be performing a few numbers herself and being so close to Christmas it will also have a festive theme.
“Everyone is always so generous” said Hollie. “Adnams Brewery has donated the beer, Mullucks have done all the printing and are covering 50 per cent of the running costs and, although I haven’t heard from them yet, I am hoping that Ridgeons will once again cover the remaining 50 per cent, as they have done in previous years.”
The evening is held in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Alzheimer’s Research UK. Both charities are close to Hollie’s heart after losing three close relatives in recent years. Her previous two concerts raised £5,000 and she hopes to raise an additional £2,000 at this one.
Hollie added: “I am always overwhelmed by the support I get from friends, neighbours and family who bake, decorate, do sound and light, perform, run the bar and donate raffle prizes. I couldn’t put on the concert without them.”
Hollie, who is a sixth former at St Mary’s School in Cambridge, is hoping that the concert will the icing on the cake of a successful and enjoyable year. She recently won the national ‘School’s Got Talent’ competition, has a sung live on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire and won the inaugural song-writing competition at her school.
The event, at Radwinter Village Hall, is at 7.30pm on December 14.
