Violin star Nicola Benedetti to become first-ever artist in residence at Saffron Hall

Award-winning, international virtuoso violinist Nicola Benedetti is to be Saffron Hall’s first ever artist in residence.

The musician who has sold out every concert she has played at the venue, will be there in February, March and May.

On Friday, February 9, she will play Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony and Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with the Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment conducted by Marin Alsop.

On Saturday, March 3, in an unaccompanied recital, she will play pieces by Bach, Ysaye and jazz trumpet legend Wynton Marsalis. On Monday, May 28, Nicola will perform with the Academy of Ancient Music, playing Vivaldi and Telemann at a concert that marks the 250th anniversary of Telemann’s death. Pieces include his Concerto for Four Violins and Concerto for Violin in A major, The Frogs.
