Vivaldi and Haydn’s legendary works to be performed by Saffron Walden Choral Society

PUBLISHED: 17:00 03 March 2013

SAFFRON Walden Choral Society will perform pieces by legendary composers Haydn and Vivaldi at a concert on Saturday March 16.

The society will be accompanied by the Chameleon Arts Orchestra as they perform Haydn’s St Cecilia Mass and Vivaldi’s Magnificat. The programme will also include Haydn’s 38th Symphony known as the Echo.

The choir boasts a vast age difference between its oldest and youngest members. Betty Clark celebrated her 90th birthday at a recent rehearsal and has been a soprano with the society since 1954. Tenor Jacob Middleton, 17, a pupil at the County High School, is the youngest member of the group and joined last September.

Tickets for the concert cost £15 (concessions £12) and are available from Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre, online at wegottickets.com or on the door.

They are also available by post. Call Linda Pollard on 01799 530759 or e-mail tickets@swchoral.org.uk.
